Congresswoman Elise Stefanik announced a new political action committee Wednesday as speculation swirls about the Republican's potential bid for governor. Wednesday, Stefanik launched the "Save New York" PAC. Its mission is to "elect New York Republicans up and down the ballot, flip New York red, and save New York," according to its website.

Unlike MAGA-star Stefanik, Lawler has tried to build his brand as the Republican who can win over the swing voters and suburbanites needed to secure victory in a governor’s race in deep-blue New York. Last year, he handily won reelection in a district that voted decisively for former President Joe Biden in 2020.
