Shohei Ohtani's gesture after getting hit by a pitch late in Thursday's game may have changed the dynamic of the Dodgers-Padres rivalry.

In all, 10 total batters were hit in those seven games, including eight in the just-concluded four-game set. Hostilities finally bubbled over when Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. was hit on the right hand in the ninth inning of Thursday's series finale by a fastball from Dodgers rookie Jack Little:

San Diego Padres reliever Robert Suarez was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount Friday for intentionally hitting Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a pitch in the ninth inning Thursday night. Suarez appealed the suspension that was scheduled to begin Friday night when the Padres faced Kansas City at home.
