A civilian version of the popular Sig Sauer P320-M18 handgun, adopted by large swathes of the U.S. military in 2019, has come to consumer markets following a groundswell of popular demand.
Now, the gunmaker is offering the P320-M18 9mm striker-fired pistol a little more than a year after it introduced the civilian version of its M17 variant, according to a recent Sig Sauer news release.
Additionally, the M18 passed a parts interchange test, and met stringent accuracy and dispersion requirements. The 101st Airborne Division is the first to get its hands on the Sig Sauer M17 handgun.
To date, Sig Sauer has delivered nearly half a million pistols across all branches of the U.S. military. The military calls the gun the M17, as well as the M18, a compact version of the pistol.
