Spiral-wound retaining rings expand the design envelope of conventional snap rings. Snap rings locate and retain components in a wide range of applications, from rotating equipment to valve bodies.

Spiral-wound retaining rings consist of one or more turns of rectangular edge-wound wire. This provides a coil which can be installed or removed using automatic equipment or simple hand tools.
