On Saturday at 11:06 a.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory in effect until Sunday at 1 a.m. for Mercer, Venango, Forest, Lawrence, Butler, Clarion, Jefferson, Armstrong and Indiana counties.

Bands of lake effect snow pounding the Tug Hill plateau today are expected to drift south late this afternoon, bringing 3 to 7 inches of snow to much of Central New York through Thursday. More than 3 feet of snow could fall in the traditional lake effect bull’s eye of Tug Hill.
