West Salem High School swept the competition, placing first in band, string orchestra and full orchestra. South Salem, Sprague, McNary and McKay high schools also took home honors.
West Salem High School took first place for 6A schools in the band division in the OSAA / U.S. Bank / Les Schwab Tires Band/Orchestra State Championships this weekend at Oregon State University.
West is now the first school to win six outright OSAA band championships in a row. South also has a streak of six wins from from 2003-2008, but tied with North Salem in 2005.
