Just a bit further up the road, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area ... would strive to acquire riches during the California Gold Rush, such as providing lodging and supplies to miners.

There is also interesting history in the preserve as it was one of California's gold rush areas ... hiking to impressive natural waterfalls, the Whiskeytown Reserve has something for everyone.
