Towards the end of the 19th century a wooden bridge was built over Afon Mawddach. The bridge replaced a ferry crossing that transported people from one side of the estuary to the other.

Berhampur: The residents in Niladripur village at Palibandh panchayat in Ganjam district are constructing a wooden bridge over Saheb canal, a practice started several years ago during monsoon season.
