A system that is producing heavy rain and thunderstorms off Florida’s east coast could become a tropical depression later this week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Orlando and most of Central Florida could see areas of heavy rainfall and minor flooding after tropical moisture – known as Invest 93L – crosses the Florida Peninsula on Tuesday.

Several communities in South Florida suffered flooded streets on Monday as heavy rains moved through the area.

Our main threats will continue to be heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts of 45 mph. Most of the severe weather chances will be wrapped up by 8:00 p.m.

As a system of low pressure crosses into the Gulf of America, heavy rain is expected across much of Florida during the work week.

Scattered showers and storms are expected to make their way across Central Florida this afternoon and heading through the evening.
