Jeff Blashill, who spent the last three seasons as a Tampa Bay Lightning assistant, has been named the 42nd head coach in Chicago Blackhawks history.

Blashill, a native of Southfield, Mich., served as head coach of AHL Grand Rapids Griffins for three seasons, winning the Calder Cup championship his first year in 2012-13. Prior to that, he spent one season as an assistant coach in Detroit under Mike Babcock.
