New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto was greeted with roaring boos by New York Yankees fans on Friday. Spending one year in the Bronx, Soto helped lead the Yankees to an American League pennant last season before departing in free agency. It was a historic 15-year, $765 million deal that lured Soto away from the reigning AL champions.

And as the Mets star descends on Yankee Stadium for the first time since leaving on Friday night, Yankees captain Aaron Judge revealed what he learned from Soto in the one season they played together.

It speaks to Juan Soto’s brilliance that no one or even two players were going to be able to do enough in his wake to make the Yankees offense as good, much less better, than last season.
