A man involved in an officer-involved shooting in Kannapolis on Saturday died from his injuries two days later, police announced on Thursday.

Welch made headlines in late 2016 after driving to a Washington, DC pizza parlor with an assault rifle to "self-investigate" false claims of a politician-led child sex ring being run out of the business.

Police released details Thursday morning on a Jan. 4 incident in which a police officer shot a suspect who reportedly pulled a gun on the officer. The suspect died two days later in the hospital. According to police,
