Lebanon's leadership has taken a political decision to give additional legal and social rights to Palestinian refugees in the country, Lebanese and Palestinian political sources told The National on Thursday.

The Lebanese and Palestinian presidents agreed Wednesday that Palestinian factions won't use Lebanon as a launchpad for any attacks against Israel, and to remove weapons that aren't under the authority of the Lebanese state.

The Lebanese and Palestinian presidents agreed Wednesday to support Beirut's efforts to enforce the state's monopoly on weapons by disarming Palestinian factions, among other pacts.
