College football continues to evolve as the sport gets closer to a 16-team playoff that might come as early as 2026, and with expansion on the table two of the major conferences are seeking more representation in the College Football Playoff.

In an interview with ESPN on Wednesday, Day said that he believes any future models of the College Football Playoff should include four automatic bids for the Big Ten. Right now, there are entries for the top five ranked conference champions and seven at-large spots.
