An off-duty police officer fatally shot a man who was holding an imitation firearm, New York City police said at a press conference just after midnight Saturday.It happened Friday night on William Avenue near Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island's Great Kills neighborhood.

A man was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer in the Great Kills section of Staten Island on Friday night after he allegedly pointed an imitation firearm at two officers, according to NYPD.

An off-duty NYPD officer shot a man wielding a BB gun on Staten Island, after he allegedly pointed it at the officers. The man, later pronounced dead, was identified as Jesse Campbell. The incident is under investigation.
