Extends impressive streak
Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard sent collectors into a frenzy for much of last year with his Young Guns card. Bedard, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NHL draft, has been called a once-in-a-generation talent.
The Chicago Blackhawks rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the first period with two goals in the second, but they lost to the Nashville Predators 3-2 in a shootout Thursday at Bridgestone Arena. The Hawks showed as much zip and battle as they’ve had since a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche four games ago,
Bedard is immensely frustrated by the Hawks' struggles this season. But unlike most NHL players, he also keeps an eye on the organization's prospects, and he likes what he sees.
CHICAGO- The Chicago Blackhawks know that they have a stud in Connor Bedard. There are detractors because there are other parts of his game that need work (as is the case for every teenage NHL player) but there is no denying his offensive upside.
Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard (jaw) could make his return to the lineup against the Penguins on Thursday night. Bedard has been sidelined since Jan. 5 when the rookie forward suffered a fractured jaw as a result of a hit in a contest against the Devils.
If Bedard can get to nine games, there are three more point streaks by Canadian born players as teenagers that he would then be looking to tie at 10 games. These players include Jonathan Toews (2007-08) as well as Crosby (2005-06 and 2006-07). Chicago goes up against the Edmonton Oilers the following day (Jan. 11).

Right now, Bedard is riding a 7-game point streak. The fact of the matter is that he does have one teammate that he’s been dynamite with lately and that’s Tyler Bertuzzi. Although he isn’t surrounded by a ton of young everyday NHL players yet, having a veteran like Bertuzzi isn’t the worst thing in the world.
After the current and former Blackhawks stars traded their point streak extensions, the Wings took over. Lucas Raymond, Andrew Copp, and Albert Johansson each scored to make it 4-1 Wings. Kane assisted on two of those three goals for a total of three points on the night.
