The complete list of nominees for the 97th Academy Awards, the most prestigious award in Hollywood, have been announced today (from). The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the nominees via live broadcast.

In the director category, the academy nominated favourites Sean Baker (Anora), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist) and Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez). Rounding out the category were James Mangold (A Complete Unknown) and French film-maker Coralie Fargeat (The Substance). Prominent omissions included Edward Berger (Conclave) and Jon M. Chu (Wicked).

The 2025 Oscar nominations will be announced 7:30 a.m. CT in a live show from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. The reveal is hosted by actor Bowen Yang of "Saturday Night Live" and actress Rachel Sennott. The nominations announcement were originally set for Jan. 17, but were moved because of the California wildfires.

The Oscar winner, who stepped down citing "personal reasons," is being replaced for the remainder of this term by Gerald Quist, who finished second to her in the last election.
