Hamas confirms the death of Mohammed Deif, head of its military wing, 6 months after Israel announced he was killed
Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida confirmed on Thursday the death of Mohammed Deif, the former head of Hamas’ military wing, six months after the Israel Defense Forces said it had killed him in a raid on the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone in the southern Gaza Strip.
Deif was widely known as the second-highest-ranking Hamas official in Gaza, behind Yahya Sinwar, the group’s leader in the territory
In a post on X, IDF stated, "We can now confirm: Mohammed Deif was eliminated." The Israeli military said that it obtained intelligence confirming his death in the past few hours. Deif was targeted in a strike at Hamas' Khan Younis Brigade commander Rafa'a Salameh's compound in Khan Younis area on July 13, The Times of Israel reported.
