When we hear these unconstitutional legislative prayers before government bodies all over this country we should remember their legacy is one of treason and betrayal. They are, at heart, un-American.

Please give strength, courage and mercy for all those in war torn and disaster torn areas around the world. Lord, hear this prayer for our Nation and our world. Amen.

Today, many of us will sing in celebration, Irving Berlin’s words, "God Bless America." But for our time ... let me offer a few suggestions as a 4th of July meditation of sort.

We cherished the freedom to pursue our dreams, express our thoughts, and observe moments of silence for prayer. On July 4, take a moment to appreciate the joy and greatness of our America.
