Storms, extreme heat, and wildfire risks are disrupting record-breaking Fourth of July travel, causing flight delays, road congestion, and safety warnings.

Millions of Americans are hitting the road, skies and seas for the Fourth of July, with the Federal Aviation Administration and the American Automobile Association both predicting record travel numbers this week.

According to AAA 61.6 million Americans will have traveled domestically by car, and that’s up 2.2 percent from last year’s Fourth of july weekend, setting a record for highest volume. And by plane 5.84 million are expected to board and that’s a 1.4 percent increase.
