Liberia's first microfinance bank, Access Bank Liberia (ABL), has launched its business activities with one branch in the country's capital, Monrovia with an initial capital of EUR 4.2 million.

An official of the Access Bank has said the bank's continued operations are vital to the overall health of the Liberian economy, especially in this challenging time.

Access Bank currently is the largest retail Bank in Africa by customer base, 27,000 staff across 592 branches, spanning three continents, 12 countries and with 29 million customers.
