The former NFL running back, who’s been hospitalized after a swimming accident in Pensacola, Fla. last Wednesday, is off a ventilator, according to his girlfriend, singer/actress Angela Cole.

Former Arkansas and Browns running back Peyton Hillis is no longer on a ventilator and is “on the road to recovery,” his girlfriend, singer and actress Angela Cole, said Wednesday night.

However, it was a recent update by his partner Angela Cole that Hillis is now on the way to recovery. A positive sign was his ventilator coming off, while Cole referred to him as the hero of her life.
