Anglo American chief executive Cynthia Carroll, who is on a drive to shake up the mining house's corporate structure, has shed the chairman posts of the group's three wholly owned divisions.

Miner Anglo American said on Friday Chief Executive Cynthia Carroll has decided to step down from her post with the board's agreement.

Carroll, who led Anglo American for more than five years until she stepped down in 2013, will join Glencore's board immediately as an independent non-executive director.
