Johannesburg: Atul Gupta, one of the three Gupta brothers now in self-exile in Dubai, has lost a high court bid to get a new passport from the South African government.

Atul Gupta’s bid to obtain a new South African passport has been shot down by the High Court in Pretoria, which said the controversial businessman is a fugitive from justice.

The businessmen Atul and Rajesh Gupta were implicated in the looting of state funds under President Jacob Zuma. They fled to the United Arab Emirates about five years ago.
