At the heart of The Last of Us—an adaptation of the video game franchise of the same name—is the beautiful, tear-inducing, emotionally fraught relationship between Joel Miller and Ellie Williams.

On Sunday's episode of "The Last of Us," the show's timeline retreats to a moment of reconciliation between Joel and Ellie before this season's vengeful quest.
