The New York Road Runners cancelled its fleet of 500 drones less than a week before its annual midnight run event in a decision organizers say was out of their control.

Tuesday night’s planned drone spectacle was canceled after a disastrous performance at a Florida show where several drones plunged into a crowd, leaving a 7-year-old boy injured.
