RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA – Relay For Life participants began to paint their town purple Friday afternoon by tying purple ribbons on trees, streetlights, fences and other places around the city.
Pancreatic cancer uses a purple ribbon as a tribute to one woman’s love for her mother. A woman named Rose Schneider, whose favorite color was purple, died after battling pancreatic cancer.
The ribbons were put up on Friday, Oct. 4, a day before Lexi would have turned 16. The ribbons are to show awareness for childhood cancer. Purple was Lexi's favorite color.
