The Virginia High School League has canceled all state championships for gymnastics, swimming and diving, and wrestling scheduled to take place over the weekend, the league announced Thursday.

The Virginia High School League on Thursday announced that its state championships for wrestling, swimming and diving and gymnastics will be held next week at venues to be determined. The winter storm that swept through the state this week spurred the VHSL to move most of those events — originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday — to Sunday and Monday.

Following the weather conditions across the Commonwealth, the VHSL said they are canceling all state championship events scheduled for Sunday and Monday.

In wrestling, the Class 6, Class 5 and Class 4 tournaments — originally scheduled for Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center — now will be held March 1 at a site to be determined.
