A well-known national restaurant chain has shuttered its last Midlands location. The Hooters restaurant at 5195 Fernandina Road, near Interstate 26, is listed as "permanently closed" on Google. A recorded phone message at the restaurant Monday morning also noted the business as permanently closed,

The closures come after the chain agreed to sell all of its 151 company-owned restaurants to a franchise group that already owns locations across the U.S. The deal, backed by the company’s founders, was an attempt to address its $376 million in debt.
