CBS News New York's Carolyn Gusoff reports from his neighborhood in West Hempstead. The New York state trooper who was shot in the leg on Long Island was released from the hospital Friday.

The West Hempstead annual Memorial Day parade took place on May 26, honoring those who fought for the freedom of the country.

Malverne and West Hempstead will host their annual parades to celebrate Memorial Day on May 26. Both of the parades begin at 10 a.m.

Thomas Mascia, former NYS trooper who shot himself and then lied about it last year on Long Island, has pleaded guilty.
