The Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid clamped down on defense and found their offensive rhythm Saturday night, shutting out the Dallas Stars in a 3-0 road win to even the Western Conference Finals at 1-1.
While the Stars’ side was peppered with postgame questions about the slash against Roope Hintz, the Oilers mostly took questions around the performance of goalie Stuart Skinner, who shut down 25 shots on goal from Dallas en route to his third shutout win in Edmonton’s last four games. The Edmonton Oilers are in a fight against the dangerous Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final of the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. If they are to come through with a series victory versus the Stars, they would need Connor McDavid to be at the top of his game.
Calvin Pickard, a career backup (when not playing in the minors) has more minutes in net than Edmonton’s No. 1 goaltender (Stuart Skinner). The gap could’ve been larger, but Pickard’s injury guaranteed recent starts for Skinner.
