Pennsylvania education officials were informed of the funding delay late June 30, after school districts had already approved their budgets. The funding freeze affects seven federal programs totaling nearly $7 billion nationwide.

After-school programs, English-learner services, migrant education programs, and professional development are all at risk.

The money was meant to support after-school and summer programs and is a major help for students from low-income families.
