Undocumented immigrants with deportation orders who encounter Florida police, deputies and troopers will find themselves on the fast track to being deported under a renewed partnership between ICE and the state’s 67 county jails.

In Evansville, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office has for years alerted Immigration and Customs Enforcement, often abbreviated as ICE, to potential immigration violations among its jail population, Sheriff Noah Robinson said in an interview with the Courier & Press.

When somebody is booked into jail and if they have a detainer on them, ICE can ask the jail to serve a warrant on them and hold them for an extra 48 hours before ICE comes to take them into custody.
