Reports that deported migrants had faced mistreatment stirred an uproar in India ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Washington.

At least 104 Indian citizens were deported from the United States Tuesday night on a military aircraft, according to officials from India’s Punjab state, as US President Donald Trump makes stemming migration a top priority.

The government is "seriously considering" passing a new law to create a framework that will encourage "safe, orderly, and regular migration for overseas employment." This action follows controversy surrounding the deportation of more than 100 Indian migrants who arrived in Amritsar yesterday on a US military C-17 airplane,

The flight appeared to be the first use of an American military aircraft to deport people to India, which is one of the top sources of illegal immigration to the United States.

PEOPLE THAT HAVE LIVED IN THE US FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, EVEN WITHOUT UNDOCUMENTED STATUS, THEY CANNOT JUST BE A GRAB AND DEPORTED. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO GO TO IMMIGRATION COURT TO PRESENT THE CASE. NOT THAT THEY’RE GOING TO WIN IT.
