Cole Escola took home the 2025 Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play for the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in "Oh, Mary!"

Cole Escola’s first shot on Broadway has earned them one of the most coveted prizes in the theater world. At Sunday night’s Tony Awards, the star of “Oh, Mary!” scored the Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for their delightfully daffy depiction of Civil War-era first lady Mary Todd Lincoln.

It might not have spelled awards hardware for Sally Field in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" at the Oscars in 2013, but Mary Todd Lincoln eventually had her day at the Tony Awards on Sunday. Star-playwright Cole Escola won the Best Actor in a Play Tony for their riotously funny work in the outlandish comedy "Oh,
