Qatar dismissed concerns about its offer to give U.S. President Donald Trump a Boeing plane, saying it was not trying to buy influence, a day after a bill was introduced in the Senate to prevent a foreign aircraft operating as Air Force One.

The Trump administration first approached Qatar to inquire about acquiring a Boeing 747 that could be used as Air Force One by President Donald Trump, four sources familiar with the discussions told CNN.

The prime minister of Qatar has denied that that a $400m (£300m) plane given to Donald Trump was a bribe. The Gulf nation has been criticised for giving the Trump administration a Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet which the president hopes to be use as Air Force One until the current ageing planes used by the president are replaced.
