Nintendo will include an optional battery preservation mode with the Switch 2, which the company revealed via its Nintendo Today! news app. This will cap the console's charge as it approaches 90 percent and then maintain it at that amount.

“The Nintendo Switch 2 system stops charging when it reaches about 90% remaining battery” with that setting turned on, Nintendo said. “Pausing the charge at around 90% reduces deterioration to the battery.” Nintendo added, “If ‘Stop Charging Around 90%’ is turned on, the charging speed will slow down around 90%.”

Nintendo revealed the new battery charging setting for Switch 2 in a Nintendo Today post. When activated, this new setting will slow, and eventually stop the Switch 2 battery from charging beyond 90%. Users can toggle it on or off from the System Settings menu.
