SpaceX is getting ready to start testing its new Direct-to-Cell (DTC) Starlink satellite service. The DTC service is supposed to provide cell phone connectivity to remote areas not covered by conventional cell networks.

Starlink plans to start beta testing its Direct-to-Cell service. The beta test will include its global cellular partners, including T-Mobile.

As promised, T-Mobile and SpaceX's Starlink-powered satellite service is now live for the lucky few accepted into the beta program. Over the past two weeks, we have had T-Mobile customers share stories about getting subscribed to the satellite program.

For now, T-Mobile restricts the beta for SpaceX's direct-to-cell Starlink system to Samsung S24 phones and two Galaxy foldable models.

SpaceX will be start beta testing direct to cell service within the next three days, CEO Elon Musk has tweeted on January 24 on X. The beta is expected to run between January 27 and July 26, a report by NASA Space Flight has said.

Mike Katz, President of Marketing, Strategy, and Products at T-Mobile, said: “T-Mobile Starlink is the first major low-earth orbit constellation in the world paired with terrestrial cellular spectrum, making the phone in your pocket work in areas of the US that have never, and probably never will, have ground based coverage.
