Republicans in the House are now attempting to enact his vision. Hardliners in fact want deeper and faster cuts to Medicaid and other social programs. Whatever finally makes it through the House then has to pass the Senate, where there are stricter rules about what can or cannot be included in a budget reconciliation bill.
Now the Senate gets its hands on the "big, beautiful bill," which exceeds 1,000 pages, after House committees labored on it for months.
A bill that would cut Medicaid and other programs by more than $1 trillion could impact ride-sharing companies taking patients to appointments.
Following the passage of Trump's "big, beautiful bill" in the House, several Delaware lawmakers spoke out against potential adjustments to Medicaid.
One provision strips all Medicaid and CHIP funding for gender-affirming care, including puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries, for trans people of any age. Another provision bans coverage for these services under the Affordable Care Act by excluding them from the definition of "essential health benefits."
The budget proposal would strip lifesaving care from people who depend on Medicaid – a population already vulnerable to systemic discrimination and economic instability. Senate must say no and protect our healthcare.
