PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A text message about payments from the DMV is the most recent scam circulating in the Mountain State. The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles is warning the public not to fall for a text message payment scam.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is alerting customers about a new text scam where fraudsters pose as the Virginia DMV.

The bogus text messages urgently tell customers to pay a fine to avoid having their licenses and registrations suspended.
