Juniper Fire initially started 3:10 p.m. May 28 in Siskiyou County. It has burned 49 acres after being active for four days.

Researchers will keep a close eye on them as the fire continues to burn. The Elkhorn Slough Reserve has been closed until further notice. There are only about 3,000 sea otters left in California.
