I wouldn’t blame you if you took one look at Dell’s Alienware Concept UFO handheld gaming PC and its detachable controllers and decided it was nothing but a Nintendo Switch clone.

But the first major PC maker to tease a handheld was Dell, which demonstrated an Alienware Concept UFO device during CES 2020 – two years before the Steam Deck launched.

Of course, the Alienware UFO never got off the ground. Eighteen months went by without any updates on its existence, and three and a half years after CES 2020, the Asus ROG Ally launched in June 2023.
