Sunny, one of the two young bald eagles in Big Bear Valley, California, born back in March, took flight for a few seconds on Thursday before the wind knocked it back into the nest alongside its sibling Gizmo.

Friends of Big Bear Valley, a nonprofit that maintains two web cams that livestream the goings on in the nest, reported Sunny’s first hovering as a developmental milestone as the two eaglets prepare to fledge, or fly away from the nest.
