A fire early Monday destroyed the Royale Gardens, an old Whitehall Township farmhouse converted into a restaurant and banquet hall that catered to weddings and other special events for decades.

Demolition of the structure, a popular restaurant and banquet hall that regularly catered weddings, is expected to continue at least through the week, said Whitehall Fire Chief Robert Benner.
