Nestled in Government Hill, between Fort Sam Houston and the Pearl District, one building seems to tower above the rest.

Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park remains closed to the public. The mansion itself was completed in 1868 with 26 rooms, and was undergoing a $2 million renovation project when the fire happened.

The Bidwell Mansion in Chico was left in ruin after it caught fire on Dec. 11. It has been under restoration since May and was temporarily closed to the public.
