The U.S. is again leading the way. While shark attacks dropped around the world and in the U.S. last year, the U.S. again had the highest reported number of unprovoked bites. There were a total of 28 reported incidents in the U.

Two Central Florida women who were injured in a shark attack while swimming in the Bahamas are now recovering in Brevard County.

The United States continues to be the most likely country in which to get bitten by a shark, according to the annual International Shark Attack File from the Florida Museum of Natural History. Twenty-eight of the 47 unprovoked shark attacks recorded in 2024 occurred in U.S. waters.
