Months after the start of negotiations, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) have reached a pivotal point.
CTU leaders say the law is “stacked against” the union and has become a perfunctory step. “It is deeply frustrating [to be at this point],” said CTU President Stacy Davis Gates.
Martin Malin, the fact-finder, will review the reports submitted by CPS and CTU, and issue recommendations, which are non-binding. Both parties can accept or reject the recommendations.
