The eWolf, America's first all-electric ship assist harbor tugboat, has been christened in San Diego ahead of its launch in the Port of San Diego.

“The eWolf is a historic milestone in the maritime industry and Crowley’s legacy, and underscores our company’s commitment to serve as global sustainability leaders and innovators.

Jackson said the eWolf will replace one of two diesel-powered tugs Crowley operates at the port. That will eliminate the consumption of more than 30,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year.

Private tugboat operator Crowley says it recently took delivery of the eWolf, the first all-electric tugboat in the United States.

Operated by Crowley Maritime Corporation, the new 82-foot eWolf will escort ships entering and leaving the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal using electric power instead of diesel fuel.
