Airlift Northwest said the helicopter left Harborview Medical Center in Seattle at 9:04 p.m. yesterday bound for its home base at the Arlington airport, about 40 miles north.

Investigators said the pilot of a medical helicopter issued a mayday moments before the aircraft crashed into a hilly area north of Reno near the Nevada-California state line early Saturday.
