Greene died in September 1987. Greene's son now lives part time in Incline Village, close to the site of where the replica of Ponderosa Ranch operated from 1967 until its closure in 2004.

At auction will be more than 500 artifacts, including 20 from the television series, in which Greene portrayed a dedicated father and three-time widower with a son from each marriage.
